Summer meeting of the Graduate School “MINAS Microbial Natural Products” on the synthesis, production, and function of microbial Natural Products, from Monday 1st to Tuesday 2nd August at Warberg, near Braunschweig.
Three members of i-NPChem were involved. The meeting was organized by Prof. Stefan Schulz (Univ. Braunschweig). Prof. Andreas Kirschning (participant) and Dr. Bastien Nay (invited speaker talking on “From fungal natural history to bio-inspired total syntheses: chemistries in a Museum”)
(Category: More meetings on NPs, this is not organized by i-NPChem)
With the promotion of the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE), the Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology (ALAEQ) and the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), the 32nd Annual Meeting of the International Society of Chemical Ecology (ISCE) and the 4th Congress of the Latin American Association of Chemical Ecology (ALAEQ) – 1st Joint Meeting, will be held in July 4th to 8, 2016, at Recanto Cataratas Hotel in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná State, Brazil.
Prof. Stefan Schulz, from i-NPChem, is involved in the Scientific Committee.
We are looking for a student with a Master degree in chemical ecology or natural product chemistry to work on this project on the History of an evolutionary convergence: evolution of chemical defenses within mimetic butterflies communities. The student will have to perform chemical analyses on biological material using various innovative analytical techniques. Together with those lab skills, the student should display a high motivation for fieldwork in tropical areas. The PhD thesis will start in October 2016. Application files should contain: a CV, a cover letter, Master score sheets, and two recommendation letters. Complete application files must be sent to Dr. Violaine Llaurens and Dr. Bastien Nay before March 30th. Selected candidates will then be interviewed by a selection committee in May. The PhD will start on October 1st, 2016.
