The Institute of Organic Chemistry and the Centre of Biomolecular Drug Research (“Zentrum für Biomolekulare Wirkstoffe, BMWZ“) are part of the Hannover School for Biomolecular Drug Research (HSBDR), a cooperation programme of the Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH), with Hannover Medical School (MHH), TwinCore, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) and associated institutions, as well as the Technical University Braunschweig. The goal of the HSBDR doctoral programme is to examine and optimise natural products as to their suitability for application in medicine, for instance as an antibiotic or in the field of cancer treatment.

The widespread expertise in biomolecular drug and infection research found in the Hannover/Braunschweig region offers doctoral students a unique international, interdisciplinary environment for research. The centre’s laboratories and equipment offer optimal conditions for excellent, specialized training for highly qualified young scientists in the classical disciplines of chemistry, biology and medicine.
